Gods Pocket Resort has two colorful, well maintained cabins, with 4 rooms per cabin, with each room offering either a double and a twin bed, or a queen size bed, since each is based on double occupancy. Each room also has its’ own heater, and bathroom with a sink, toilet and shower, and dive groups of up to 12 can be easily and comfortably accommodated..
And as is typical with all the British Columbia dive resorts, there is a community meeting area or clubhouse for coming together at meal time or for chillaxin’, reading, sharing photos or watching tv.
Great, comfy home-cooking is the norm here, with three wholesome meals a day, fresh baked goodies and beverages (juices, water, hot drinks) available throughout, and of course a ‘hot box’ of goodies that goes out on the dive boat.
If you have any specific food preferences or allergies, just let the crew at God's Pocket Resort know in advance and they will do their best to accommodate you. (It is BYOB, junk food and pop here, as with most other lodges and dive resorts as well).
The scuba diving in the Port Hardy area is considered by many to be the absolute best scuba diving in the world – period. However since everyone has different preferences, we prefer to say this cool water diving is spectacular and must be experienced to be believed.
The colors, variety and amount of marine life, both large and small, make this a paradise for divers and photographers (above and underwater). We can’t say enough times how much life there is on top of life on top of life – absolutely amazing!
God’s Pocket Resort is one of the few BC dive resorts that offer great diving right from their dock! So a typical day usually involves a two tank boat dive and then a one tank boat dive, all at amazing Life upon Life upon Life dive sites, and then an optional night dive from the dock.
And if you want to dive even more in between boat dives, hop right in the bay with your gear and your buddy! Their sheltered bay offers typically clear, shallow dives with plenty of life including Giant Pacific Octopus, giant Nudibranchs, several varieties of crabs, pelagic life, anemones, shrimp, and tons of other life.
Gods Pocket Resort caters to certified divers of all levels and abilities, but be sure to bring your certification card and your own gear as they only maintain a few Save-a-Dive items.
Throughout the year, Orcas, Minke whales, Dalls Porpoise, Harbour Porpoise, otters, seals, Stellar sea lions and more can be seen, and in the summer months Humpback whales, and perhaps even California Sea Lions and Pacific White-sided dolphins may even be found nearby.
Be on the lookout for Stellar Sea Lions while diving as they often buzz you without you even knowing!
Boat dives are from their 40’ custom, aluminum dive boat, which includes a heated cabin and an elevator to effortlessly lift thrilled but tired divers out of the water and onto the deck of the boat.
How awesome is that!?
Rest and admire your photographs in between dives, or stretch your legs and explore the beautiful West Coast scenery on Hurst Island via flagged trails, and experience scenic mountain views, or secluded beaches and bays. Look for the many species of birds that can be seen, watch for whales, or just enjoy the majestic beauty of British Columbia.
In addition to special workshops for divers which are held at Gods Pocket Resort, the schedule and openings change throughout the dive season so the best thing to do is let Bill and Annie know what you are looking for, and then grab a spot as soon as one becomes available because they book up fast!
